John Chhotani spent his early adult life running businesses in Malaysia, which prepared him for his current role selling cars at Holler Honda.

John was born in Pakistan and moved to Malaysia soon after turning 18. During his 10 years in Malaysia, he boxed competitively and owned his own bakery and restaurant. In 2017, he moved to the US. He spent a couple months in New Jersey before moving to South Florida, where he had more opportunity to explore hobbies like fishing, diving and swimming.

For his first year in Florida, John spent most of his time around the water. After relocating from South Florida to Central Florida, John went back to work, buying and selling cars at auction with his uncle. He found out Holler Honda was hiring through a connection with the sales manager Richard Drexel, and he decided to pursue the opportunity.

While selling cars was new to John, it was not unfamiliar. Selling cars in a non-negotiating environment is similar to the restaurant business, just selling a different type of merchandise.

“When serving food, you’re not talking about price. You just want to have food you enjoy,” John said.

At Holler Honda, the customer’s taste is what matters most. The goal is to help a customer find the right car and make sure the customer is happy. Whether or not a customer is buying that day, they are Holler Honda customers. John has found that his restaurant background has helped him succeed. The customer service model at the dealership has helped him build long-term relationships.

According to John, one of the keys to being successful in any business is being able to adapt in all scenarios. With a focused mind and a lot of patience, one can find success in the automotive industry. This career path has treated him well so far. While sales keeps him busy, he still finds time to pursue his goals outside of work.

John enjoys boxing in his spare time. Most of his hobbies involve working with his hands, and his palms have callouses to show it. Aside from boxing, he enjoys gardening, fishing, and baking. One of his goals is to compete in American Ninja Warrior, one he planned to pursue this year. Now, he just has more time to train for when the next tournament comes around. This is one of many crazy goals, all of which he is constantly working to achieve.
