What Do LATCH Ratings Mean?

When you are driving around with children in your vehicle, you want them to be as safe as possible. Young children need to be in car seats. The IIHS is an organization that provides safety ratings in a number of different categories. One area that they evaluate is the ease of installing child safety seats. Holler Honda wants you to have information on these ratings.

The evaluation that the IIHS does for child safety seats is the LATCH evaluation. LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. The IIHS rates a vehicle on how easy it is for someone to install a child safety seat using the anchors and tethers.

Lower anchors need to be easy to find, and they have to be at an appropriate angle. Tethers should not be located at the bottom of a seat. Ratings from good to poor are given detailing how easy it is to properly install the child seat. Explore our LATCH-equipped vehicles today at Holler Honda.
